Specification, classification and function of centrifugal tube

IMG_1212

The role of the centrifuge tube is to hold the separated samples when the centrifuge processes samples. It is an indispensable thing when the centrifuge is used for separation. The centrifuge tube is divided into many specifications. Let’s take you to know.

First of all, centrifugal pipes can be divided into plastic centrifugal pipes, glass centrifugal pipes and steel centrifugal pipes according to their materials. Polypropylene (PP) is the common material of plastic centrifugal pipes Polyethylene (PE), polycarbonate (PC), etc. Its advantage is that it is transparent or translucent, its hardness is small, and it can take out samples by puncture. The defects are easy to deform, poor corrosion resistance to organic solutions, and short service life. Polypropylene (PP) is the best material in plastic centrifuge tubes, so we try to use PP when selecting plastic centrifuge tubes

When using glass centrifuge tubes, the centrifugal force should be reduced as much as possible, and rubber pads should be padded to avoid breakage of the centrifuge tubes. Glass centrifuge tubes are generally not used in high-speed centrifuges.

The steel centrifugal tube has high hardness, no deformation, heat resistance, frost resistance and chemical corrosion resistance. It is also widely used, but the corrosion of chemical substances should be avoided as much as possible.

Secondly, according to the capacity of the centrifuge tube, it can be divided into the following types: micro centrifuge tubes, generally 0.2ml, 0.65ml, 1.5ml and 2.0ml centrifuge tubes; Ordinary centrifuge tubes, generally 15ml and 50ml centrifuge tubes; A large number of centrifuge tubes, generally 250ml and 500ml centrifuge tubes, and centrifuge tubes larger than 250ml can also be called centrifuge bottles.

Third, according to the shape of the bottom, it can be divided into conical centrifugal tube, round bottom centrifugal tube and flat bottom centrifugal tube, of which conical centrifugal tube is the most common.

Fourth, according to the closure mode of the cover, there are capped centrifugal tubes and screw capped centrifugal tubes. The capped type is often used for micro centrifugal tubes, and the screw cap is often used for large capacity centrifugal tubes or centrifuge bottles.
