Taboos of laboratory operation (2)

4. Toilet airplane

Pour a large amount of organic liquid into the sewer at one time, causing combustible volatiles to flood the sewer, posing a threat to toilet smokers.

5. Power leakage

Wet hand contact electric switch, plug/socket, wire/plug board, power connector of electrophoresis instrument.

Inadvertent use of water near power supply and electrical appliances: There are exposed 220V AC power lines, plugs or electric leakage instruments where water or reagents flow or spill.

Unplug the electrophoresis tank and then turn off the electrophoresis instrument (DC).

In case of electrical appliance fire, use 1211 dry powder extinguisher, wet cloth/asbestos cloth or fine sand.

6. Clothes rather than skin

Glassware is taken from the acid tank without protection, or silk stockings are taken off intentionally to protect clothes, and are burned by invisible lotion.

Other common sense incorrect operations: pour water into concentrated sulfuric acid, heat the reagent nozzle toward people or look down on the nozzle, and directly smell the gas escaping from the test tube.

7. Water into sulfuric acid

Pour water into concentrated sulfuric acid; When heating the reagent, the nozzle faces people or looks down on the nozzle.

Supplement: Do not pay attention to the temperature when heating or do not add zeolite, which causes the vessels to burst and flush out and hurt others.

9. Radioisotopes – Hidden Killers

Operate radioisotopes in violation of regulations, do not wear gloves, do not protect the head and chest, and throw radioactive materials at random.

It is lucky not to report the pollution.

The recovered materials contaminated with isotopes shall not be cleaned immediately after the experiment.

Any attempt to evade or reduce responsibility will be counterproductive and harm others and themselves!
