Serological pipettes are used in laboratories to transfer liquids. These pipettes have graduations on the side that help measure the amount of liquid to be dispensed or aspirated (in milliliters or milliliters). They are most recommended as they are very accurate in measuring the smallest incremental levels.

Serological pipettes are mainly used in the following areas:
mixing suspensions;
Combining reagents and chemical solutions;
Transfer cells for empirical analysis or expansion;
​Layering reagents for creating higher density gradients;

Serological pipettes are designed to be used as blowout pipettes, these pipettes have a scale near the end of the tip that is connected to a rubber bulb for blowing out excess solution using air or gravity. Typically, blowout pipettes are marked with a double ring, and processing requires the use of an attached bulb that applies air pressure to blow out and capture every drop of liquid within them. Single-ring pipettes, on the other hand, are the “non-blowout” variant that allows the entire tip to be evacuated.
